Union Square: The Pret a Manger, in the old Tisserie space on the northwest corner of Union Square, won't open until Monday, but to create a certain level of frenzy around the opening, the chain is giving out 5,000 goody bags of sandwiches, popcorn, and brownies to those who snagged special vouchers this morning. As people are wont to do when there's free food in New York, they've come in droves to line up. A look at the scene around 1 p.m.
