It's sadly ironic that beloved 44 year-old pizza place Five Roses was pushed out of its East Village space last year due to rising rents only to be replaced by another pizza spot. New signage on 173 1st Ave. confirms earlier rumors that an unknown pie operation—Iggy's, that's right Iggy's—is moving in on the hallowed ground. We assume they have a killer business plan, as sources who have eyed the space over the last year tell us the landlord was asking for an exorbitant rent (no shocker here). And when it's all said and done, at least a pizzeria is better than a blatant "douche receptacle."
