Eater SF sends word that one of its city's big summer/fall expansions, Quince, just poached one of NYC's most well known wine gurus, David Lynch. Known mostly for his work as wine director of Babbo, he won a James Beard award for Outstanding Wine Service in '04, then took a brief hiatus to write books (he's co-author of The Wine Snob's Dictionary and the earlier Vino Italiano). He surfaced back on the New York scene when Ken Friedman—with the help of Lynch's old employer, Joe Bastianich— opened The John Dory late last year, but now he decamps for SF—his wife's hometown. A loss for sure, but Dory fans shouldn't fret: Friedman tells us that his team, along with Lynch, is interviewing replacements all this week. "We are sad to lose him, but happy he's moving to a great restaurant in an awesome city," Friedman says. "April and I are sort of jealous."
