1) Midtown According to the above Twitpic and a Yelper, Giovanni Ristorante on 47th between 5th and 6th has closed after 15 years in business. A new "great" restaurant is coming soon. [ShutterWire]

2) Lower East Side: Bowery Boogie reports that Régate, the French bistro (and unlimited mimosas at bunch spot) on Orchard, has met its demise. [BB]

3) Midtown: Grub Street shares the news that Uncle Marky's Organics, a "go to" for portobello steak sandwiches, has closed. The answering machine reveals the owner is looking for a new location. [GS]
