Cobble Hill: Residents of 215 and 219 Court Street were evacuated this morning when the vacant building at 217 partally collapsed, most likely due to rain. Why this maters to us: the incredibly popular, and as one correspondent calls it, "the granddaddy of brownstone Brooklyn's high-design/low-priced Thai food eateries," JOYA packs in the crowds nightly at 215 Court. ABC reports that the Buildings Department will need to determine the structural stability of the adjacent buildings before letting the tenants back in, while CBS tells us 217 may need to be completely demolished. We've yet to get a comment from JOYA reps on their situation, but don't be surprised if your regular Thai routine is interrupted.
