Sneak Peeks: Montenapo Readies for Delayed Debut

New, 1 comment

Midtown West: A tipster grabs the above pics of Montenapo, opening next week (almost a year after its original projection) in Renzo Piano's New York Times Building. Conceived pre-recession by the team behind Bice, Montenapo is a sprawling 5,200 sq. ft. space serving entrees well into the mid $30 range. The menu prices make us a bit wary, but what about this space? Somewhat reminiscent of a Sheraton or Courtyard Marriott, no? They best get to thinking up some sort of Delafeed-worthy lunch specials for the opening if they want that business lunch crowd.

NB: When the restaurant was announced in Jan '08 Bruce Ratner said, "With the addition of this distinctive restaurant, The Times Building offers a terrific range of dining choices for the thousands of employees who work in the building..." That range includes Montenapo, the pricey Inakaya, and Hale and Hearty Soup spinoff, Schnipper's Quality Kitchen.
