Eater Scenes: Veritas, 7 PM

New, 2 comments

Welcome to our photo series, where Eater photographer Daniel Krieger visits some of the city's celebrated restaurants to capture them at a certain, and very specific, point in the day. In continuing our coverage of restaurants hitting important milestones, today we take a look at Veritas during 10th anniversary year.

[Krieger, 4/21/08]

Gramercy: In January 1999, chef Scott Bryan, restaurateur Gina Diaferia, and wine collector Park B Smith joined forces to open the wine-centric Veritas on East 20th St. offering over 192,000 bottles from Smith's collection. In '07, chef Bryan left the restaurant to be replaced by Ed Cotton and then the L'Atelier de Joel Rubuchon alum Grégory Pugin. The restaurant offers an $85 prix fixe but, like many pricey restaurants these days, has recently launched an a la carte bar menu. And while not many reviewers have filed on the place since the chef change, Pugin's cooking could merit a fresh look. The scene here on a night in April at 7 p.m.
