Eater Inside: Marea

[Krieger, 5/13/09]

After months of glorious anticipation, Marea, chef Michael White and partner Chris Cannon's haute seafood spot in the old Central Park South San Domenico space, opens to the public tomorrow. She's going to be a pricey one, but they did a beautiful job with the space, and already the food world Illuminati are murmuring their four star predictions.

Given the names behind the project, the cost involved, and New York's high hopes for a huge worthy opening to counteract some monster shutters, the place has been covered to death. See here, here, here, here, here, and here. One thing that hasn't been mentioned enough: the clutch private dining room. A PDR to beat all PDRs, the space located below the main restaurant (see photo 2) has special sound proofing and a mini-kitchen, so the jovial White can be all yours for the night (and for a price). If PDRs are beyond your '09 budget, see what you can get on the regular menu.
