Yesterday afternoon, the first guests checked into the long-awaited, still-a-bit-of-a-construction zone Ace Hotel on Broadway and 29th. Though they have strangely tight security and won't let non-guests near the lobby, word is the hotel bar will open Friday. As for the Ken Friedman restaurant venture The Breslin, the space is looking pretty gutted but has some lovely signage (above). Both it and, crucially, the first branded NYC location of genius Portland java purveyors Stumptown are projecting to debut in July.
