The folks at the restaurant will neither confirm an opening date nor will they share the new name of the place, but according to Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg, the JBA-winning authors, Robert DeNiro's revival of the old Ago space in the Greenwich Hotel could open as soon as May 18. That is six. days. away. We heard last month that the plan was always to close Ago after the Tribeca Film Fest and reopen within a matter of weeks after some minor renos, so this isn't totally out of the question. Workers have been on the scene daily, a delivery of plants arrived yesterday, and they already have that coveted community approval. Let's see if Carmellini, DeNiro and their cohorts Ken Friedman and Josh Pickard can pull this off before Memorial Day.
