Monday Opening Report: Tandem, Recipe Certified Open, Studio Square Thurs

1) Bushwick: Here's one that opened under the radar. Tandem, a new bar and small plates spot that opened towards the end of last month in Bushwick. A good alternative to the Jefferson stop oasis that is Northeast Kingdom, the bar serves a rotating menu featuring meatballs, salads, quinoa and desserts for $7 - 9. Coming up soon: pulled pork sandwiches with collard slaw. Status: Certified Open. 236 Troutman Street; 718-386-2369.

2) East Village: The Robs report that Chabela's, the Dominican restaurant mentioned in the plywood last week, has opened. They appear before CB3 tonight to request liquor license approval. They'll serve Cubans in addition to guinea hen guisada, mondongo, eggplant stew, and fried pork chops. Status: Not open. Opening tomorrow at 4. 40 Ave. B. 646-484-6750

3) Upper West Side: @Cepico sends word that plywood vet Recipe is opening for business tonight on 81st and Amsterdam. The 26 seat restaurant will feature "casually rustic, new American cuisine inspired by fresh, local, ingredients hand-picked by our chef." More info here. 4) Long Island City: The Robs and The Feed report on the opening of Studio Square a wacky and giant (18,000 sq. ft.) biergarten complex with a separate event space. Status: Not open. We're going with Thrillist's Thursday projection; 35-33 36th St., Long Island City, 718-383-1001.
