LES Jewsion Spot to Reappear before CB3, Face Opposition

Last month a mother/daughters team won approval from Community Board 3's SLA licensing committee for their "Jewsion" restaurant planned for the corner of Essex and Canal, a spot once rumored to be coveted by Sir McNally. The approval didn't stick. According to the Lo-Down, the ap was added last minute last month, leaving the greater "Community" without a chance to voice their opposition. And thus, they will appear again tonight.

A leader of a neighborhood group on Canal is apparently mobilizing her troops to oppose the restaurant, which was sold as a reasonably priced place, serving local, organic produce. Noting Les Enfants Terribles, Clandestino, Bar 169, Broadway East, Bacaro, Brown, White Star, and East Side Company Bar in the immediate area, she says she doesn't want Canal to become another Rivington or Ludlow.
