The Villager still hasn't been able to procure official papers—and Social Security checks—for Ray Alvarez, the ailing owner of Ray's Candy on Avenue A and East 7th. But there is some progress: "Alvarez said he’s now got two lawyers helping him. They’re trying to track down a copy of his long-lost Turkish Navy ID that he used to get his green card...If anyone needs some stimulus funds, it’s Ray.
