Plywood: Bowery Wine Co. Owner Takes Boys Room Space

New, 1 comment

Chris Sileo, co-owner of the East Village's Bowery Wine Co., Mason Reese, co-owner of Paladar, and their partner Dan Maccarone plan to open Destination in the old Boys Room space on the corner of 13th and A in the beginning of June. Since no major celeb backers are involved, we're guessing this project won't attract the protesters.

Envisioned as an affordable (but not divey) bar, they'll offer drinks from $6 - 9—including frozen cocktails— and bar snacks like tater tots, grilled cheese, pizza, sliders, and stuffed jalapenos. Chocolate maven Rachel Zoe Insler is consulting on the dessert menu, which will include homemade pretzels and a deep fried cinnamon, banana, hazelnut spread sandwich.

As for the space, it was left completely trashed after the gay bar closed on New Years Day (see photos here). They'll open up the French doors that were boarded up by the prior tenant, but they plan on keeping one of the dancing poles and the disco ball for good measure. We'll see in a month if it's enough to get the run off from Drop Off Service next door.
