1) East Village: A new upscale coffee shop is going in on 2nd Ave. between 4th and 5th, right next to Sea Thai. The space is relatively big and work seems rather extensive, so we're hoping for something good, perhaps even a spot on par with Abraco around the corner. More info to come in the next few weeks. 2) East Village: EV Grieve takes a new look at the Zips space on B and East 5th, rumored to be reopening as a fancy diner. They have finally started work on the outside, revealing the occupant prior to Zips was a medical office. [PLYWOOD]
3) Carroll Gardens: Reports a tipster: "These are photos of a new wine bar opening on Court St and Union in Carroll Gardens Brooklyn. It will be in the old space where Marco Polo take-out used to be. From what we heard the opening date will be around the 3rd week of May. The wine bar will called The Enoteca on Court. The wine will be international, the food small plates, panini, cheeses and salumi and pizza from the wood-burning oven." [PLYWOOD]
4) Williamsburg: According to some signage in the windows, a new restaurant is going in on the corner of North 8th and Wythe in Williamsburg. [PLYWOOD]
5) Midtown: A new Crumbs is coming to Broadway between 52nd and 53rd. [PLYWOOD]
6) East Village: We have some shots above of the exterior of La Lucha a tapas place opening on Avenue A between 9th and 10th. They're currently trying to get community support for their liquor license application and will reappear before the board next month. [PLYWOOD]
7) Greenpoint: Writes our roving photog on a small space in Greenpoint: "I think this has already been featured in Plywood but I see now it has cooking equipment installed so that's exciting. Norman Ave between Lorimer & Manhattan ave. Going to be "a cafe." The thing is really small so it's hard to imagine it's going to be much more than counter service or a really small dining room."
