Meatpacking District: We were surprised to hear back in the beginning of the month that the Standard Hotel's upcoming American bistro wouldn't be opening until after Memorial Day, given how close it looked to completion. Not so anymore. All of the red banquettes, the zinc bar, the tile floor have been covered, the bottles have been taken down from the shelves, the bar stools put away. Looks like that coy minx is getting a few more paint jobs before the final unveiling. One new important feature that has been added to the scene: chalkboards! Daily specials we can almost see you now.
