EAST VILLAGE— Grub Street reports that Ravi DeRossi and Phil Ward have hired Coffee Shop alum Luis Gonzales to run the kitchen at their new tequila and mezcal bar Mayahuel: "So far there have been rumblings about seviche, a cheese/chorizo fondue, tamales, and empanadas. The complete menu won’t be installed till mid-May, but as of tomorrow, the bar will start offering botanas (translated as 'exciting sharable bites made to amuse and stimulate')." [GS]
MIDTOWN— The Feed interviews The Modern's Gabriel Kreuther about his Beard nom and gives him a chance for a Cuozz shout out: "...Bruni does what he does, but with someone like Steve Cuozzo at the New York Post, you have to wonder where he comes from sometimes. And as far as the stuff that circulates on the blogs, you wonder if the bloggers really ate there." [The Feed]
WILLIAMSBURG— The La Superior owners talk liquor licenses with Blackbook: "Iris:...The paperwork actually took a bit longer than we expected—we applied in early January. Felipe: It used to take from three to six months, and now they’re shooting for six to nine months, or even a year." [BB]
