Opening Report: National Cafe/Bistro Debuts on Rivington

LES: National, a new cafe and soon-to-be restaurant, has opened in the primo spot right next door to Freemans Sporting Goods at 6 Rivington. Open for about a week now, National sells coffee and pastries for the time being, but the owner tells us they should be launching an "American/International bistro" menu in about a month. After La Colombe, this is the second coffee shop to open in the five block radius in a week, and located just steps away from Loreley and Freemans, it could be a new major player on the block. Or at least it will benefit from Freeman's brunch overflow. Stay tuned for more in the weeks ahead.
