One favorite crutch of proactive community boards is the "500 foot rule", a rule stating a venue needs a special hearing for a liquor license if there are already three other active licenses within 500 feet. The SLA announced today that that rule will change slightly: it will take into account what kind of venue is opening (hotel, nightclub, pub, restaurant) before deeming a hearing necessary. [DBTH]
