1) Greenwich Village: A number of sources have confirmed that Scuderia, a new casual eatery and plywood vet from the Da Silvano folks will open this Monday. Today, Thrillist shares the following details: "Eats're rustic northern Italian (roasted brick-flattened Cornish hen, skirt steak alle tre salsa), with American infusions like a Monterey Jack Beef brisket burger, and a rosemary-speck grilled cheese (speck's 'n effect). Next weekend, Scud's starting brunch, then lunch in about two weeks.” Status: Not Open. Opening Monday. 10 Downing Street; 212-206-9111. [Thrillist]
2) Upper East Side: Both Grub Street and Metromix report that a splashy new tea house called Tracy Stern SALONTEA is opening this week. The latter writes: “Think of it as Marie Antoinette's tea house?if the French queen had been a disco queen: Loud orange walls, hot-pink countertops and—wait for it—a working disco ball hold court at this new Upper East Side tea salon from socialite-about-town Tracey Stern. "You're not coming in and choosing from 300 teas, which I find annoying," she says of her selection, which comes in seven blends—red, green, decaf, etc.—sourced from private estates in China and India, and is available as lattes or iced-tea infusions.” Status: Not Open. Opening Monday. 501 E. 75th Street; no phone yet. [Metromix]
3) Harlem: UptownFlavor’s got the skinny (via shilly-sounding tipsters) on two new Italian eateries that have opened recently, the first of which is Trattoria Amici. Here’s the lowdown: “New Italian restaurant ‘Trattoria Amici’ on Lenox between 129th and 130th, featuring Italian staples such as Fettuccini Alfredo, Baked Ziti, Veal Parmesan and much more. There is no liquor license as yet so bring your own bottle from the convenient Lenox wines next door. There are plans for sidewalk dining so I see this as the beginning of Lenox Ave’s wonderful wide sidewalks utilized for dining al fresco.” Status: Certified Open. 381 Lenox Avenue; 212-828-8040. 4) Harlem: UptownFlavor also mentions another new eatery and coffee shop called Il Caffe Latte. Their tipster writes: “New restaurant,Il Caffe Latte, opened last Saturday after 1 year of waiting. I had lunch on Saturday and breakfast today. The food is great and cheap, and the atmosphere is stunning. You should check this restaurant. Il Caffe Latte is located on Lenox, between 119 & 120th Streets.” Status: Certified Open. 189 Malcolm X Blvd/Lenox Avenue; 212-222-2241. [Uptown Flavor]
