The Plywood Report: Berry Park, SD26, Pony Bar, and More

New, 3 comments

1) Williamsburg: Above, a look at plywood vet Berry Park a new bar/restaurant/roof deck opening at 4 Berry St. in the next couple of months. One of the owners tells us they plan to open by May 1 and that they will have a large selection of European beers with an emphasis on their German selection and will serve "beer infused menu items." The lower level is 35,000 sq. ft. but the big focus here will be the 3,000 sq. ft. roof. [PLYWOOD]

2) Madison Square Park: We checked in on San Domenico's new digs on 19 East 26th Street, which will supposedly be complete in "Spring '09." Looks like there's quite a bit of work that needs to be done. [PLYWOOD]

3) Hell's Kitchen: A tipster sends in the above shot of Pony Bar opening any day now on 45th and 10th Ave.: "It's a craft beer and cask ale place. This space was formerly occupied by Bar Tenth Ave. which was destroyed by a fire last year. This bar is being opened by the same people that own Lansdowne Road two blocks south on Tenth Avenue. Tenth Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen is in need of more places like this as it finds its identity as it gentrifies." [PLYWOOD]

4) Murray Hill: Another tipster sends in the shot of a permit announcing the upcoming Med Park 30: "Took this picture of this place in Murry Hill 30th between Park and Madison. The guys working said it is going to be a wine bar." [PLYWOOD]

5) Boerum Hill: Lost City reports that the shuttered City Lights Diner is going to reopen as the Ocean View Diner. [PLYWOOD]

6) East Village: EV Grieve brings word that a new pizzeria named Mr. C's is opening on 102 Avenue C between Seventh Street and Sixth Street. [PLYWOOD]

7) East Village: The Baoguette Cafe signage has finally gone up in the old Bamn! space. [PLYWOOD]

8) Midtown: Midtown Lunch reports that Chuan Garden on 46th St. between 5th and 6ht is reopening as Panda Restaurant. [PLYWOOD]

9) Gramercy: Guerilla Shopper NYC laments that the Teriyaki Boy on Lexington Ave. is going to convert to a "Japanese Noodle Restaurant": "I blame the students of Baruch. Damn kids and their noodles." [PLYWOOD]

10) Harlem: A PR rep writes in to tell us about the second location og Muddy Waters, a coffee bar and cafe, set to open on April 13th on 129th St. and Adam Clayton Powell Blvd.: "With condos currently being developed, a Bentley dealership around the corner, and several new restaurants and stores in the immediate area, Muddy Waters is opening in an exciting and booming area which is on its way to becoming a new Manhattan hot spot." [PLYWOOD]
