Plywood Special: Glimpsing the new Aureole

Later this spring, Charlie Palmer's 20 year-old Upper East Side institution Aureole will be making a big move from its current townhouse space on East 61st Street over to the new Bank of America building at One Bryant Park. The new space looks much more sprawling than the intimate two floor original, but we're hoping they'll translate some of the feel over once the detailing is done.

From the looks of the construction shots above, we may have awhile to wait before the shiny, new home is unveiled, but PR reps tell us they're still shooting for a "late spring" transition. Regardless of the move date, the current restaurant will stay open until the day the new one opens. And as far as the food is concerned, Mr. Cutlets reports Chris Lee's current menu is out of control.
