Pichet Ong Announces P'ong/Batch Shutter Over Facebook

West Village: According to Pichet Ong's status update on Facebook, he is preparing for the last three days of his restaurant P'ong and its connected bakery Batch. We're still awaiting comment from Ong on the reasoning behind the closures (and if they're perhaps temporary), but a West Village correspondent tells us P'ong has been closed quite a bit of late and Batch is frequently empty.

Perhaps in a climate where comfort food and pizza are king, the bodies and the dollars aren't flowing into those restaurants in the relatively new sweet/savory genre. And it really is a shame Magnolia packs them in, while Batch nearby can't sell their little delicacies. We'll be keeping an eye on Kyotofu and Tailor.
