Initial Projection: Mid '08
Current Debut Projection: May-ish
Odds, On Time Arrival: Even
Eater Projected Opening Date: 05/10/09

Bowery: It's been four months since we last checked in on the Cooper Square Hotel's upcoming branch of Govind Armstrong's Table 8, originally planned to open last year. We're happy to report that although they weren't able to open by February (the last projection), serious progress has been made:

Not only is the second floor hotel bar open, the kitchen looks good to go, the salt bar—one of the central aspects of the restaurant—is in, wall panels are up, floors are down, and the Irish marble has been installed in the street-level bar. Furniture should be delivered today.

The outdoor spaces on the first and second levels are still far from completion, but we think they'll have it all together by the time the weather truly warms up. For now, Armstrong and chef de cuisine Willis Loughhead are putting the finishing touches on the menu and awaiting the gas man. If all goes well, they'll have the gas on by early next month, the Certificate of Occupancy shorty after that, and open to the public sometime in May. For more background on the concept of the restaurant, our earlier coverage is here.
