Cha-Chum! Crucial Progress Made on Chumley's Roof

New, 2 comments

West Village: Vanishing New York reports that the roof is finally being raised at everyone's favorite West Village tragedy, Chumley's. It was last April when they starting taking the chimney down at the collapsed historic speakeasy, and last May when workers first started dismantling the entire roof in preparation for a complete restoration. Since then, the site has shown little signs of progress, though the last official projection cited a spring '09 reopen date. Those longtime followers of the Chumley's saga may be interested to know we're only two weeks out from the two year anniversary of the original collapse and shutter of the Bedford St. bar.
