LOWER EAST SIDE— A tipster writes in an alert and a walk by confirms this shocker: Rosario's Pizza on the Lower East Side, at Orchard and Stanton, has been shuttered by the Department of Health. Calls to the pizza place have gone unanswered, but we'll return with an update when we get the official report from the DOH. Passersby are already lamenting the shutter. [EaterWire]
GREENPOINT— Grub Street reports the owners of the former Union Picnic have taken over Greenpoint's Cup O' Joe's at 85 Driggs Ave: "Bode, who grew up nearby on Humboldt Street before becoming a chef de cuisine at Florent and also working at Bruno Jamais, tells us he’s already grilling up cheesesteaks, pressed sandwiches, roast-beef hash, and hot dogs inspired by Pink’s of Hollywood. O’Brien, who also opened Bean, will be in charge of baked goods." [GS]
LOWER EAST SIDE— Wayne Nish, a chef most well known for his Sutton Place restaurant March but who most recently consulted at Spitzer's Corner has moved to Singapore. [Diner's Joural]
