2009_02_bajafresh.jpg1) Midtown: Midtown Lunch has some exciting news to report from the chain world: "Baja Fresh will be opening its first Manhattan location in the old Zen Burger space on Lexington btw. 45+46th. Is Baja Fresh the best Mexican food of all time? Definitely not...But I do know this? when I lived in L.A. the baja chicken burrito from Baja Fresh was my goto lunch." [PLYWOOD]

2) Roosevelt Island: The Roosevelt Islander learns that the island is getting its first sports bar: "Starting this coming June, if everything goes according to schedule, Roosevelt Islanders will be able to enjoy what most other NYC neighborhoods take for granted, a friendly local sports bar and grill. The one year old Nonno's Focacceria owners are opening the approximately 3400 square foot Riverbank Bar & Grill in the space next to Duane Reade at Riverwalk's 425 Main Street." [PLYWOOD]

3) Upper East Side: A tipster reports there is now signage for a place called Hummus Kitchen on 2nd Avenue between 84th and 85th Streets. [PLYWOOD]
