East Village: The long anticipated Butcher Bay, the restaurant opening in the old Seymour Burton space, will open tonight on East 5th Street between A and B after seven months of renovation. We're just happy that after the long wait the food media didn't fall all over themselves to cover the opening. Oh wait! The Times, Grub Street, The Strongbuzz, and Thrillist all have details on the menu, the theme, and all the rest, but our favorite report comes from the always effusive and entertaining, Urban Daddy:
"Butcher Bay is the kind of dilapidated sea shanty that you would pull up to on a schooner on the Chesapeake or wander into barefoot on the boardwalk in Ocean City, MD—just, you know, in the East Village (so please, wear shoes). It's the kind of easy after-work or Saturday afternoon spot where you'll get lost in a tidal wave of beer and finger food."Status: Certified opening tonight; 511 E. 5th St., 212-260-1333.
