As has been marginally reported elsewhere, Italian restaurateur Pino Luongo is arrabiata that Not-Quite-Top-Chef Stefan Richter named his book Dirty Dishes because that is what Pino Luongo named his own 2008 book (which is actually really good.) "I grew up in a world where you tried to be original," he tells Grub Street. But Luongo would do well not to raise his voice too high. [NB: Luongo never called SR a twat but, according to the bald man himself, "Who isn't a twat?" Truth.]

If Luongo wants to impugn Richter for ganking his title, he should fist apologize to Marla Gale whose book of a life affirming anecdotes Dirty Dishes and other War Stories appeared in 1999. He might also want to pay a visit to the studio of photographer Ralf Schmerberg whose 2005 book was called Dirty Dishes. And finally, if Mr. Luongo is really yearning to claim higher ground, he should track down Joyce Bunuel, the daughter-in-law of Luis, whose 1978 film La Jument vapeur was released in America as Dirty Dishes.
