The Shutter: Lunetta Loses Manhattan Location

New, 9 comments

Kalina, 11/11/07.

Flatiron: Adam Shepard's second iteration of his Smith Street hit Lunetta, located on 21st and Broadway, closed on Saturday night. The 15 month-old restaurant was one of those rare attempts at bringing a successful Brooklyn restaurant over to the island (see Frankies, Junior's, Gimme Coffee), and this time around, it didn't pan out. Our guess is the space was just way too grand (see above) compared to the homey spot in Boerum Hill, and they had a harder time filling the seats. Remember the former inhabitant of the space was serious neighborhood favorite Mayrose, so this is really a lose-lose.
