1) Hell’s Kitchen: Both a PR tipster and Zagat have word that American/Latin-influenced eatery Sweet Emily’s has opened in the former Rene Pujol space. Here’s the skinny from PR: “Offering American Comfort Food with Latin Influence, Sweet Emily's hopes to appeal to the Hell's Kitchen/Theater District neighborhood with its savory cuisine, genuine hospitality, and budget friendly prices (all entrees are under $20). Menu highlights include Bacon Mac & Cheese Croquette, Shrimp Mojito, Plaintain Crusted Tilapia and Smoked Pork Chops." Status: Certified Open. 321 West 51st Street; 212.957.9338. 2) Chelsea: PR informs us that Friedman’s Deli in the Chelsea Market has been revamped/relaunched and is now Friedman’s Lunch, a bit more modern and less pricey than the original. From the website: “The inviting open kitchen, dark wood tabletops, exposed filament bulbs; chalkboard menus, large mirrors and vintage wallpaper create a rustic setting and a welcoming atmosphere at Friedmans Lunch...menu favorites include the pastrami reuben, two bean turkey chili, spicy mac n jack and 100% ground beef brisket burger.” Status: Certified Open. 75 Ninth Avenue in Chelsea Market, 212-929-7100. 3) Lower East Side: EV Grieve notices that Vasmay Lounge has been replaced by a bar called The Local 269. While details are scarce he writes: “So, when did this pop up...? I swear it wasn't here Friday...The Local 269 was open for business last night at Houston and Suffolk on the LES (the bar's address is 269 Houston)...enticing 2-for-1 happy hour sign on the sidewalk...As enticing as this all was, I didn't have time to stop in and check it out...Another day. Or night.” Status: Certified Open. 269 E. Houston Street; phone unknown. [EV Grieve]

4) Midtown: TONY has the lowdown on the new La Frieda burger joint, Flip inside Bloomie’s. They write: “If trying on clothes sounds like fun, wait till you try out the burgers at Bloomingdale’s latest food concession: Choose from three different Pat LaFrieda beef blends—hearty (short rib), sweet (brisket) and refined (Wagyu)—or opt for lamb, turkey or veggie, among others. With toppings like a fried egg, chili, Canadian bacon, and multiple cheeses, you can dress that baby up or down—just like the mannequins in the windows.” Status: Not Open. Opening on the 23rd. Bloomingdale’s, men’s lower level, 1000 Third Avenue; 212-705-2993. [TONY]

5) Upper East Side: Tipsters/PR report that a new location of Mediterranean eatery, Nanoosh has opened on the Upper East Side. Here’s the sccop: “All the recipes have been developed by leading food stylist Nurit Kariv and Chef Hugo Trinquier to incorporate fresh, natural and organic ingredients. The result is a menu that is not only tasty but also highly nutritional – featuring menu items high in protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals. Status: Not Open. Opens Monday. 1273 First Avenue; 917-677-7575. [Eater Inbox]
