Midtown: Flo Fab reports that designer Giorgio Armani—who has some strong opinions about at least one Italian hotspot in this city—is opening a restaurant in his new 5th Avenue flagship with Lorenzo Viani, the chef of a Michelin-starred restaurant in Tuscany:
"Mr. Viani will be a consultant/chef at Armani/Ristorante 5th Avenue, which is expected to open this week on the top level of the three-floor location. The decor, in the subdued Armani palette, is glossed with metal. The menu is modern Italian...Sirio Maccioni had tried to do a restaurant in Paris with Mr. Viani..."And in other retail-food news, Bloomindale's will open their Pat La Frieda burger outpost, Flip, on Feb. 23.
