Monday Opening Report: Jollibee, Favela Cubana, Yo In Yo Out Certified Open

1) Greenwich Village: Recent plywood vet Favela Cubana from the owner of Le Gamin opened on Saturday according to both an Eater commenter and the folks over at Grub Street. Here’s the lowdown on chef Oscar Santana’s menu from GS: “Santana will, of course, be serving Brazilian-style grilled sirloin with mashed potatoes and string beans along with other national dishes such as Bahia-style shrimp (prepared with peppers, onions, tomato, and coconut milk) and a grilled whole snapper with coconut rice and mango sauce.” Phone calls confirm open status. 2) Woodside: The eagerly-anticipated Filipino fast food joint, Jollibee opened on Saturday according to Goodies First and AHT. The former reported massive lines at Saturday’s opening while the latter shares the details on the 6 available burgers from the company site: “Amazing Aloha: two beef patties, bacon, cheese, lettuce, and a slice of pineapple, Cheesy Bacon Mushroom: two beef patties, bacon, mushrooms, and cheese, Champ: third-pound patty, lettuce, tomato, and cheddar Yum! with Cheese: single patty with cheese and special dressing, Yum! with TLC: single patty with tomato, lettuce, cheese, and special dressing, Yum!: single patty with special dressing.” Status: Certified Open. 62-29 Roosevelt Ave, Woodside; phone unknown. 3) East Harlem: TONY lists a slew of openings on their Feed blog, including the humorously-named Yo In Yo Out Diner (say it out loud). They write: “Diners will be able to dig into an affordable menu, with items like lobster salad with frisée and avocado ($12), at this new French bistro in East Harlem.” Status: Certified Open. 1569 Lexington Avenue; 212-987-5350. 4) Park Slope: TONY also reports on the opening of a new branch of Hanco’s Bubble Tea & Sandwich in Park Slope, writing: “Hanco Tang clones his Boerum Hill banh mi shop with a new location in Park Slope. Status: Unknown. No answer to calls. 350 Seventh Avenue, Park Slope; 718-499-8081. [TONY]
