West Village: Due to what reps are calling a small electrical fire, diners had to leave a smoky 10 Downing last night through the large street-side windows as as the FDNY came twice to the scene to investigate. A first hand account from the tipline:
"Fire trucks came twice during our meal (which was amazing by the way) duck meatballs, holy shit! Second time they arrived there was smoke everywhere and we all climbed out the windows. Fireman were ripping apart the entrance when we left. Dinner was amazing otherwise. I will be back with an oxygen mask next time."Damage to the restaurant was minimal and they will be back open for business tonight.
