The Shutter: La Goulue to Close After 36 Years

New, 7 comments

Upper East Side: Florence Fabricant reports La Goulue, the old school French restaurant and a Madison Avenue fixture since 1972, will close on April 5. As predicted long ago, the restaurant will shutter due to lease woes:

"He said he and his partner, his cousin Régis Marinier, are closing La Goulue because their landlord would not renew the lease...Mr. Denoyer said he is hoping to move La Goulue to another location. 'In the meantime,' he said, 'I hope my clientele will go to Orsay...'"
Here's hoping they can find a new worthwhile space.
