EaterWire: Eat Out Poll, Peanut Crisis Hits High End Desserts, and Spot Moves

Another victory against nightlife

CITYWIDE—The salmonella scare has been affecting the dessert offerings across the city: "Gramercy Tavern’s peanut butter semifreddo, Dovetail’s peanut butter praline tart, and Jean Georges’s chocolate-covered peanut butter-and-Concord grape bonbon went on a brief hiatus...At Gotham Bar and Grill, peanut petit fours are now delivered at the end of the meal along with a reassuring speech...Nancy Olson, pastry chef at Gramercy Tavern, took the opportunity to start making her own peanut butter." [Diner's Journal]

GET OUT THE VOTE— The polls are now open for TONY's Eat Out Awards, to be presented in April. [TONY]

LITTLE ITALY— Remember that huge dog that used to sit atop the now shuttered Spot's Cafe on St. Marks? It's moved to Little Italy: "It’s a win-win, really: The little mutt should feel right at home, going from one swarmed tourist strip (St. Marks) to another (Mulberry Street). And Il Piccolo Bufalo gets a mascot that’s way cooler than animatronic reindeer and Santas." [GS]
