1) Tribeca: Roving photog Will Femia notices some new developments at the long planned expansion at Walker's, the landmarked Tribeca bar. According to the permits in the windows, they are finally expanding into the space next door after re-doing the facade and adding outdoor seating back in May '08. By the looks of it, it could double the size of the 130 year-old space. [PLYWOOD]
2) Flatiron: Giant foodie mega-market Eataly has its first piece of signage up at 200 Fifth Ave. The 60,000 square foot space will contain all kinds of retail plus a wood-fired pizza and pasta bar, a cheese and salami counter, a steak restaurant, a vegetarian restaurant, a wine shop, a bakery, a crudo and seafood bar, and a classic Italian bar serving gelato, espresso, and wine. On the roof will be a 4,500 square foot open-air rooftop beer garden serving pizza and sausages. [PLYWOOD]
3) East Village: Fork in the Road notices progress is being made at Guayoyo, the new Venezuelan restaurant opening on East 4th Street and 1st Ave., a mere four blocks from arepa joint Caracas. According to the menu in the window, they will offer 14 varieties of arepas and entrees ranging from $14 - 26. [PLYWOOD]
4) Dumbo: Brownstoner reports that a new cafe called Dumbo Muffin is opening on 63 Pearl Street. It will serve espresso and "gourmet food," though the 'Stoner questions if that's what the neighborhood needs. [PLYWOOD]
