Gael Greene reports that Kitchen Club, the 20 year old cramped but charming Asian fusion restaurant on Prince and Mott that got its start as an illegal dinner party in the owner's apartment, is closing after the New Year. The owner Marja Samsom, also know as the 'Dumpling Diva', tells Greene, "The economic challenges of the past year and a big boost in rent made me realize it’s time to move on...I love cooking and teaching classes. I could audition for television, write a book. One door opens and another closes." The restaurant was also once sister to Chibi, a sake and small plates spot on Clinton Street.
