The Diamond Dairy, Gama, and a Harbour Update

Welcome to the weekly Shutter. Know of any other restaurant that has met its demise? Let us know.

2009_12_harbourshut.jpg1) Midtown: Midtown Lunch shares the sad news that The Diamond Dairy, a hidden kosher luncheonette in the middle of the Diamond District has closed afer 60 years in business: "Along with Taam Tov, the almost 60 year old diner is one of the most well known of the hidden gems in the diamond district, and it will be missed...With Chanukah just a few days away, this is an especially big blow." [ML]

2) East Village: Grub Street reports that Korean spot Gama on St. Mark's between 2nd and 3rd Aves. after three years. [GS]

3) Soho West: A little update on yesterday's Harbour news. A PR rep officially confirms the close, blaming it on "struggles due to the location," and a walk by today confirms they have finally papered up the windows. A worker inside reveals the last day of service was last Saturday, saying they're considering opening in a new location. Hope they're holding on to those imitation Chihuly glass sculptures then.
