For those wondering why Batali & Co. decided to ax the enoteca at Del Posto, the affordable cafe section at the high end Italian restaurant, it's because the owners there have some lofty goals, and they don't need the hoi polloi getting in the way. Molto Mario tells The Feed, "We’re going to get our second Michelin star and a four-star New York Times review this year, and this is how we’re going to do it." Ahh, so it's Sifton-bait.
Former Times critic Frank Bruni has hinted that Del Posto was the best Italian contender for a four star—though it disappointed him recently—but will Sifty feel the same? Either way, the restaurant is prepping for its close up.
