Finally Midtowners, a sleek sexy spot for the Monkey Bar rejects. Say a friendly Eater hello to East Side Social Club, the new bar/restaurant/late night spot in the old Montparnasse space at the Pod Hotel from Macao and Employees Only owner Billy Gilroy, his brother Jim, son Devon (chef), daughter Grace (GM), and photographer Patrick McMullan (investor). It's big, it's beautiful, it's sexy, and if press releases are to be believed, it's even sultry. Basically, it fits right into Gilroy's portfolio of good looking sceney spaces. But will the food stand up this time?
Sure there is nepotism at work here, but Gilroy the chef seems to have earned his spot by cooking at both Chanterelle and A Voce. He'll be putting out a Italian American menu with crudo and raw bar specials, homemade pastas, and Berkshire pork chops. Of course, cocktails will get special attention.
The 113 seat space is divided into a bar, a main dining room, and a semi-private room on a raised platform. Dinner starts tonight, late night next Monday, and lunch and breakfast next month. Find more info here and see the menu below.
