Breaking news just popped across the wire that partners Mark Packer and Rich Wolf of Tao and various other projects along with Noah Tepperberg and Jason Strauss of Marquee, Avenue and the soon to roll out Artichoke, are set to import Lavo, their bathhouse inspired restaurant and nightclub from Las Vegas to New York City. The group opened Lavo in the Palazzo Resort in 2008 as a follow-up to the mega successful Tao, and have found a home for the concept in midtown directly across the street from the original Tao on 58th Street in the former Au O Bar space. Lavo will be designed by iCrave and will seat 200 for dinner in a restaurant that will serve classic Italian food. The nightclub will operate separately from the restaurant and be heavy on bottle service, with a small dance floor and a state of the art sound system. The goal is to tap into the underserved midtown market and serve a Euro/professional crowd. The opening is scheduled for Spring 2010, and may be the first time a concept has ever originated in Las Vegas and then came to New York. Resume your weekend now.
