Fake Celeb DJ's Ruin DJing For DJ's

In another blow to the common man, actors, models and the like are now dominating the DJ world, snatching up residencies and corporate gigs from actual DJs who are trying to eke out a living at the craft. According to an article in W, hobbyist DJs like models Jessica Stam and Agyness Deyn, actor Leo Fitzpatrick and artist Nate Lowman can show up to a bar or corporate party with their iPods, press some buttons for a few hours and walk away with a five figure fee, while old fashioned DJs struggle to book gigs for a few hundred bucks. Is this wrong? Should anyone do something? Does it really matter? Probably not, says downtown DJ king Paul Sevigny, since “DJs do so little to begin with". How true.
