Plywood vet Bar Henry, the latest in old school New York-themed subterranean bistros, opened to the public last night in the former Zinc Bar space. Owners Winston Kulok (Cafe Henri, Great Jones Cafe) and his wife Carole have brought in sommelier/wine consultant John Slover (Blue Hill, Cru) to create the wine list. As can be expected, the menu tends to skew classic American: La Freida dry-aged steak, Niman pork chops, roasted chicken, a standard array of apps. The main focus, however, is the Old-World wine, which you can purchase a half or whole bottle at a time.
