MIDTOWN EAST— Grub Street learns that Mia Dona, Donatella Arpaia's two year old spot (formerly Donatella's and Michael Psilakis'), has closed for renovations. It will reopen in "the coming weeks" with a new menu. [GS]
MEATPACKING DISTRICT— Wined & Dined finds what appears to be a prototype for the burger at Stephen Hanson's Bill's Burger Bar, opening soon in the old Hog Pit space. If this is it, it has two patties, plenty of cheese, and caramelized onions, all on an oversized English Muffin. [W&D]
FAT AMERICA— More from the Times' Mag's food issue. It dedicates a solid six online pages to following Jamie Oliver around as he explores Anytown USA and its obesity epidemic. If you can get through it, the slightly-puffy profile piece is full of quotes like "If he were just a professional do-gooder, Oliver, who is 34, would be a bore" and "The reason the world is still waiting for the Messiah is that most people don't actually want one."
