Casa Lever, Midtown East
Initial Projection: September
Current Debut Projection: October 12
Odds, On Time Arrival: Even
Eater Projected Opening Date: 10/12/09
Last week the Post decided that Midtown's power lunch spots the Four Seasons and the '21' Club were feuding over who would serve the President first, an assertion reps at the restaurants didn't necessarily appreciate. Now, the paper decides the impending opening of Casa Lever, the redo of the Lever House, means a long-held rift between it and the Four Seasons will reopen. Whether or not the feud is real or just an excuse to write about the new chef at the Four Seasons (Fabio Trabocchi) and the opening details of Casa Lever (it opens Monday), it's a good reminder of the new life being injected into Midtown East.
The article does note that the menu for Casa Lever will be like that of Sant Ambroeus, the owners' other restaurant, with additional crudi and whole fish sections. Pastas will range from $18 to $26, entrees from $30 to $45. Meanwhile, the Four Seasons is considering breaking up the Pool Room and Grill Room menus, as it once did.
