A tipster writes in to reveal that the owners of STK, the female focused trendy steakhouse in MePa, went before Community Board 5 last night to seek a liquor license for the ground floor restaurant space in the upcoming 19 story Gansevoort Park Hotel on Park Ave. South and 29th St.
Though it was originally slated to be a Prime 112 (a Miami steakhouse), the concept is now an Italian, small plates spot "designed for women" that will "youthful" and "music oriented." And yes, there will be a live DJ and some bottle service tables. The developer of the hotel appeared along with a restaurant rep, leading to an approval with few restrictions. As it stands now, they'll be serving food until 4 a.m.
When this project will actually see the light of day is another story altogether. Though the hotel is scheduled to open in late 2010, 2011 is probably more like it. And rumor has it the project is hemorrhaging money.
