1) Williamsburg: Over on The Cutlets' blog, Keith Wagstaff brings the news that the closing of the abomination Action/Comic Burger has given way to Curry Heaven Inc., "a new restaurant claiming to be the only organic Indian restaurant in New York City...The menu is pretty standard: Korma, curries, tandoori chicken, etc., and the prices are very reasonable, so I’m going to say this is a win for the area." 2) Midtown East: Though TONY reports that it's opening this week, a call to the Casa Lever reservations line reveals that the restaurant is not yet ready. Looks like the soonest the city will be able to try the Sant Ambroeus revamp of Lever House space will be October 12. 390 Park Ave., 212-888-2700
3) Chelsea: Jacques Torres opens a Chelsea Market outpost of his choco shop. Status: Opening Thursday. 75 Ninth Ave, 212-414-2462
4) Midtown: Via ML: "From the owner of Barros Luco, the new Chilean sandwich place on 52nd and 2nd: 'I just want to let you know the menu with prices has been updated on my website. We opened our doors for the soft opening this weekend and I am happy to inform things have gone well. We will be open with normal business hours of 11am to 10pm starting on Monday.'" 5) Cobble Hill: The Robs post the news that Henry Public, the saloon (don't call it a speakeasy, say the owners) that nods "to the history of this part of Brooklyn—Whitman’s Brooklyn—and the amazing people, ideas, and movements of the late-nineteenth century," will be opening on Henry Street. Expect burgers, marrow bones, and of course, old-timey booze. Status: Not open. Opening this weekend. 329 Henry St., 718-852-8630
6) Greenwich Village: TONY writes that Scottish gastropub Highlands will soon be up and running at 10th Street between Greenwich Ave. and Waverly. Status: Not open. The owner reports it should be ready in about a week. 150–152 W 10th St, 212-229-2670
7) Long Island City: More from TONY, where they write about curious newcomer Testaccio: "Named for a part of Rome famous for its slaughterhouses, this restaurant will specialize in the city’s quinto quarto—or nose-to-tail—cooking." Status: Unknown 47-30 Vernon Blvd, 718-937-2900
8) West Village: On the sister location of Galway Hooker, Downtown Galway Hooker, The Feed writes: "[they have] opened a four-story sister location in the West Village, complete with a fireplace, billiard table and imported decor from the Emerald Isle—including a confessional box. On tap is an international selection of suds, while an extensive spirit collection boasts the prized Midleton whiskey from County Cork. To go with all the alcohol: recipes from owner Niamh Conway’s mother, as well as standards like the “Hooker” burger with Irish bacon, cheddar and a fried egg."
