Karaoke Boho, El Ay Si, Birch Coffee in Various Stages of Open

1) West Village: Grub Street reports that Karaoke Boho, the sister to karaoke lounge Sing Sing, soft opened earlier this week in the Polly Esther's space on West 4th Street: "Manager Joel Kim says that when his liquor license comes in (hopefully late next month), he’ll open the front café for lunch at 11 a.m., and waitresses will serve traditional Korean food like bibimbap and light noodle dishes to the karaoke suites." 2) Flatiron: Birch Coffee, the new coffee shop in the Gershwin Hotel, opened two days ago on East 27th Street by Madison Square Park. The kitchen, which will offer sandwiches, soups, and salads, will open on Monday. Status: Certified Open; 7 East 27th St., 212-686-1444.

3) Long Island City: El Ay Si, a new American restaurant in Long Island City, mentioned today in a Post piece about the state of the neighborhood, soft opened yesterday. Status: Soft open. Limited "preview" menu now offered for 25 perfect off; 47-38 Vernon Blvd, LIC, 718-389-8781.

4) Online: Lost City learns that Elk Candy, a Yokrville institution, has reopened, though online only, after years of being closed. For the marzipan fans in the audience. Status: Certified taking orders; Official site.
