A Look at Tipsy Parson, Opening Tomorrow in Chelsea

[Krieger, 10/25/09]

Tipsy Parson, Tasha Garcia Gibson and Julie Taras Wallach's follow up to their LES restaurant Little Giant, opens tomorrow, aiming to bring a touch of Southern hospitality to the streets of West Chelsea. While Tipsy Parson will feature much of the charm of its sister space, Gibson and Wallach's scope has widened to encompass some of the more eccentric elements of southern cooking. During the day, the front room will offer breakfast and lunch, with a full menu of Stumptown coffee beverages and housemade pastries available for takeout. Come dinnertime, the bar will serve a variety of specialty cocktails (including the previously mentioned Frozen Mint Julep), as well as oysters and a snack menu that includes southern style ham, carved at the bar.

Dinner menu highlights include sweet and sticky lamb ribs, an assortment of exclusively southern cheeses, chicken and dumplings, and a Fred Flinstone sized braised pork shank over stone ground grits. Tipsy Parson will also offer a curious new entry into the New York Burger world: a pimento cheese topped grass-fed burger finished with bacon and housemade fried pickles. Also something to look forward to: an epic Southern brunch. All early reports are welcome. Send them this way.
